Parish Faith Formation programs work with parents and catechists to nourish and build upon the life of faith lived at home by providing ongoing and systematic catechesis.
To support the faith formation of children and to bring young Catholics to a deep knowledge of their faith and a profound encounter with Christ, the Archdiocese of Portland recommends that all catechists participate in the Franciscan at Home "Catecheticle Institute" for training.
All catechists, RCIA teams, parish catechetical leaders, school teachers, and parents now have unlimited access to the Catechetical Institute’s online workshops in the comfort of their own homes.... paid for by benefactors of Archbishop's Catholic Appeal.
The flexibility of the Catechetical Institute allows each parish to choose to use the formation workshops as a part of the certification process or as on-going formation for their staff and volunteers, all the workshops available on our learning platform are available to every person.

There are several texts and series that have been found to be in conformity with the Catechism of the Catholic Church by the Subcommittee on the Catechism, United States Conference of Catholic Bishops. However, the Archdiocese of Portland is not endorsing the teaching methods (pedagogy) of all the resources as being equal.
We are simply highlighting that these texts are approved by the USCCB as being in conformity with the Catechism of the Catholic Church.
