God continually draws all persons to Himself, and we respond to this call through public worship and personal prayer. In the life of the Church, prayer expresses our adoration, thanksgiving, petition and contrition before God and unites us to Him in a bond of love, a vital and personal relationship with the Holy Trinity.
The mission of the Office of Divine Worship is to aid in fostering the proper understanding and celebration of the liturgy among the People of God of the Catholic Archdiocese of Portland, especially through pastoral-liturgical development, formation and education. The Office serves also as a resource for the clergy and laity of the Archdiocese in matters concerning the proper planning and celebration of the sacraments and other liturgical rites of the Church.
